Tito Rodríguez was a singer and bandleader who reigned as one of the Palladium's 'Three Kings' from the late 1940s, his orchestra a fierce rival to Tito Puente's. A polished sonero, he straddled two worlds: 'Live at the Palladium' (1960) documented his dance-floor prestige, while 'Live at Birdland' (1963) proved his jazz-club credentials. He worked the border between dance hall and jazz club as few others did.
